I thought I knew dogs, but my new larger than life Labrador puppy was driving my family bonkers! In desperation I decided to investigate obedience training, Rob’s classes were recommended to me by a friend.   After my third class I was hooked!

Rob shows a natural empathy towards dogs and owners alike, and his classes are friendly, relaxed and great fun.  You are made to feel instantly welcome even when your dog does decide to have a moment of madness! I am so very proud of what Bodger and I have achieved, we really can’t thank Rob enough for his wonderfully pragmatic approach to training dogs (and owners!)

After much research and looking at the various websites of dog trainers in my area I was drawn to ‘Take The Lead’ as the information contained on Rob’s website appeared very thorough and professional, and it was very important to me that my family did not fail our new member through lack of inappropriate training techniques that was exactly what I was looking for, a professional trainer and not some would be amateur who owned dogs.

Rob met my female Husky Shakira (who was a puppy at the time) and the fact that Huskies can be somewhat challenging to train did not faze him in the slightest, in fact, if anything he was looking forward to the challenge. Needless to say after the initial meeting Shakira then started attending his classes where she is not only learning valuable skills but enjoying every minute of it! Rob’s level of knowledge relating to dog training and psychology is amazing and the classes are as much about educating the handlers as well as the dogs.

My second Husky Sky was seven months old when he joined my family and he had strong socialisation issues with regard to other dogs but Rob developed a tailored program within his weekly classes to accommodate Sky’s needs and the results have been simply astonishing!

 

When speaking to Rob both during the training sessions and over the phone outside of class you can clearly tell that he is extremely passionate about what he’s doing and nothing is too much trouble, also at the beginning of each class he always asks how each dog has been with a view to addressing any specific issues.

 

Recently I have added a third Husky Avalanche-Bear (affectionately known as Bear) to my family and he has also started attending classes.  He is a bit older than my other two at about three and a half years and while he is incredibly laid back and has no behaviour issues whatsoever. He has not had much in the way of obedience training so these classes are all new to him.  Even so he is clearly enjoying them and is very eager to learn and be rewarded accordingly with treats.

 

In my busy day to day life Rob’s classes give me valuable one to one time with each of my Huskies and they love it! They learn, I learn and we all enjoy!

I cannot praise Rob and Tracey enough. We recently brought our first dog and didn’t have a clue where to start. We started puppy classes and within a week we saw results. Rob has taught us to understand how a dog thinks and what their needs are. Loads of useful training tips and advice/techniques we have been shown, have all been kind to the puppy. We have also had to ask robs advice away from classes and nothing is too much trouble. We really enjoy the classes and so does the puppy! Thank you both so much.

I would recommend Rob and Tracey to everyone with a puppy or dog. We take our two basset hounds, one who is now 2 years and the other one which is 5 months. We couldn’t be happier with the progress they have made. We’ve gone from our 2 year old knowing nothing to now being able to heel nicely (wonders considering she’s a basset!) and who is able to do simple commands such as down, sit, stand, wait, stay, and bed door and food manners. Bassets are one of the hardest breeds to train and both me and my partner are so proud of how far they have come

Had a one to one for my pups, Ziggy and lotto. Rob and Tracey are so knowledgeable, what a fascinating hour that was. I learnt so much about dog behaviour and within an hour Rob and Tracey leaving I have already noticed a positive change in their behaviour. Thanks so much I can’t wait for the next one
